Details
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Economist Program (EP) is a prestigious three-year professional foundation program based at IMF Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The program offers entry-level economists the opportunity to apply economic theory to operational policy work and surveillance. During the three-year duration, participants carry out two 18-month rotational assignments across different operational and functional departments (such as Area Departments, Monetary and Capital Markets, Fiscal Affairs, Strategy, Policy, and Review, or Research).
Economists participate in country surveillance missions, analyze macroeconomic and financial data, formulate policy recommendations, and conduct high-level policy-oriented research. Successful completion of the program establishes eligibility for conversion into a regular IMF staff economist position.
Financial Benefits
•Highly competitive international tax-free base salary (or salary with tax allowance for U.S. citizens)
•Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
•Relocation allowance and full travel assistance to Washington, D.C.
•IMF staff retirement plan and pension benefits
•Life and disability insurance coverage
•Generous paid annual leave, sick leave, and parental leave
