The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), formerly known as KGSP, aims to provide international students with opportunities to conduct advanced studies in graduate programs at higher education institutions in Korea. It seeks to promote international exchange in education and mutual friendship between countries. The scholarship covers tuition, living expenses, airfare, and medical insurance. For the 2027 intake, the Master's/PhD program deadline is typically in September/October 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be citizens of a GKS-eligible country (most African countries are eligible) and not hold Korean citizenship. For Master's, applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree. For PhD, applicants must hold a Master's degree. Age limit typically under 40 years old. Academic excellence and good health are required. Specific requirements for English/Korean language proficiency vary by university and program.
Financial Benefits
Fully funded, including full tuition fees, a monthly living allowance (e.g., KRW 1,500,000 for graduate students), round-trip airfare, settlement allowance, research allowance, language training fees, and medical insurance. It also includes a thesis printing fee and a Korean proficiency grant.
