The Gates Cambridge Scholarship was established in October 2000 by a donation of $210m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge. Each year, Gates Cambridge offers approximately 80 full-cost scholarships to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. The selection criteria emphasize academic excellence, leadership capacity, a commitment to improving the lives of others, and a good fit with Cambridge.
Eligibility Criteria
•Be a citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom
•Apply for a full-time residential postgraduate degree at the University of Cambridge (PhD, MSc/MLitt, or a 1-year postgraduate course such as MPhil, LLM, MASt)
•Demonstrate exceptional academic excellence
•Provide a compelling reason for choice of course
•Display a strong commitment to improving the lives of others
•Demonstrate capacity for leadership
