Australia Awards Scholarships are long-term awards administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. They aim to contribute to the development needs of Australia's partner countries in line with bilateral and regional agreements. They provide opportunities for people from developing countries, particularly those in the Indo-Pacific region, to undertake full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions. Applications for study commencing in 2027 will open on 1 February 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be citizens of a participating country (many African countries are eligible) and be residing in and applying from their country of citizenship. Must meet minimum academic requirements (e.g., Bachelor's degree for Master's, Master's for PhD). Must meet English language proficiency requirements (IELTS 6.5 with no band less than 6.0, or equivalent). Specific country-specific eligibility criteria apply.
Financial Benefits
Fully funded. Includes full tuition fees, return air travel, establishment allowance, contribution to living expenses (CLE), Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), introductory academic program (IAP), and supplementary academic support.
