•Must be already accepted into or currently enrolled in the first or second year of a full-time doctoral program in the humanities or social sciences at a Canadian institution, or a Canadian citizen enrolled at an institution outside Canada

•Research must be broadly related to one or more of the Foundation's four themes: Human Rights and Dignity, Responsible Citizenship, Canada and the World, or People and their Natural Environment

•Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and international doctoral students studying in Canada

•Must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and intellectual leadership

•Must show a strong commitment to public engagement, leadership development, and active citizenship

The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship is an advanced three-year leadership program designed to train Engaged Leaders. The program equips outstanding doctoral candidates with leadership skills, mentoring, and interdisciplinary training to help them translate their academic ideas into meaningful action. In addition to generous financial support, Scholars participate in leadership workshops, work collaboratively on major public issues, and receive dedicated guidance from appointed Foundation Mentors and Fellows.

•Up to $40,000 per year for three years to cover tuition and living expenses

•Up to $20,000 per year for three years as a research and travel allowance

•Fully funded participation in Foundation leadership events, retreats, and conferences

•Access to lifelong networking opportunities with fellows, mentors, and alumni across Canada and globally

•Individual mentorship from prominent figures in public, private, and non-profit sectors
